MET workshop day in Pisa

A quick heads-up about an event I’m attending in June. MET (Mediterranean Editors and Translators)* is organising a workshop day in Pisa, Italy, on Saturday 8 June with two workshops in the morning and two in the afternoon.

  • In the morning, there’s a three-hour workshop on “Corpus building and mining with Sketch Engine” and, at the same time, a session on “Getting to grips with post-editing machine translation”.
  • In the afternoon, the two parallel workshops are “Advanced Word skills for editors and translators” and “Phrasal verbs and modal verbs”.

I’ve signed up for the corpora workshop and hope to pick up some tips after having used Sketch Engine on and off for the past five years (see an article I wrote for the ITI Bulletin). I’ve chosen to brush up my grammar in the afternoon.

An enticing social programme includes a guided tour, a wall walk and pre- and post-workshop meals. See you there?

* Disclosure: In my current role as membership chair on MET council, I’m involved in organising this workshop day.
