About me

My name is Emma Goldsmith and I’m a Spanish to English medical translator and writer.

I originally trained as a Registered Nurse in London, but after moving to Spain, I studied translation and became a freelance translator in 1995. Much later in my career, I was elected Chair of Mediterranean Editors and Translators (2020-2024), was granted Fellowship of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (2023), and most recently have been awarded honorary lifetime membership of the ITI Medical & Pharmaceutical Network (2024).

I have wide experience in medical texts, translating SmPCs, PLs, labelling, clinical trial protocols, informed consent forms, case reports and research articles for publication in medical journals, clinical practice guidelines, ADR reports, websites for private clinics, etc.

Please visit my business website to read more about the translation services I offer.

To meet me “face-to-face”, watch this video interview I gave on The Successful Linguist in 2014 about my background, specialisations and work-life balance or this interview from 2022 with The Translator’s Studio about the benefits of being a member of Mediterranean Editors and Translators.
