New information for excipients in package leaflets

The EMA and the European Commission have just updated the safety warnings for excipients in package leaflets. Excipients are the inactive ingredients in a medicine–diluents, binders, disintegrants, colouring agents–that give the medicine its final dosage form. Read more…

European Society of Cardiology annual congress

Last month, the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) held its annual congress in Barcelona. Some 30,000 specialists attended over five days to discuss ‘Innovation in Cardiology’ 40 years after the first percutaneous coronary intervention. New features in SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1

SDL Trados Studio 2017 and SDL MultiTerm 2017 on my desktopSDL Trados Studio 2017 was released in November last year. Service Release 1 (SR1) has just appeared. It brings a few neat improvements and a couple of bigger surprises, which I’ll run through in this blog post.

TO3000 3D and BaccS: side by side

Over the past 20 years as a freelance translator, I’ve organised my workload and admin with a pen and paper, done a brief stint with Word tables combined with ProZ invoicing, used Outlook tasks with Excel, and finally settled with AIT’s  TO3000 about 6 years ago. Version 11, released in February 2014, met all my needs, so when AIT announced in June last year that a new 3D version was just around the corner, I looked forward to trying it out. Read more…

Legalese in medical translation: a problem paragraph solved

Clinical trial documentation has its fair share of standard legal sections, and one particular paragraph has been causing me quite a headache recently.
