Brexit, Clinical Trials and Medical Translators

Following the EU referendum in the UK last week, it seems likely that the UK will be leaving the European Union. Many translators are now wondering how Brexit will affect their businesses, while many EU citizens living in the UK (and UK citizens living in the EU) are wondering how it will affect their terms of residence. I’m concerned about both scenarios, but in this post I want to look at another aspect: how Brexit might affect clinical trials and medical translators, in particular those who translate into or out of English. Slate Desktop and SDL Language Cloud Custom Machine Translation Engines

A translator’s conversion to a mechanical keyboard

FilcoSince the Typing Tips for Translators webinar last February, several people have asked me which keyboard I use. The answer is a Filco Majestouch-2. But actually, I’ve only been using this mechanical keyboard for about six months. Before that, I belonged to the vast majority (97%) of translators who use a membrane keyboard.
